Maria Fields

Founder & President

Maria Fields is a Stamps Scholar and sophomore in the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. She cherishes the value of STEM and is dedicated to increasing diversity in the STEM community—organizing and facilitating all-girls coding workshops, volunteering for Black Girls Code, and holding Lego NXT robotics build sessions across Detroit and beyond. Maria participated in the Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit throughout high school and had the honor of being named a Regeneron Science Talent Search 2020 Finalist for her independent research. She is an avid reader, who founded her own non-profit literacy program and has established a student organization for her non-profit at Michigan. Maria was the Distinguished Young Woman of Michigan and participated in the American Legion Constitutional Contest. She is a U.S. Presidential Scholar and graduated summa cum laude.

Elisha Cooper

Vice President 

Elisha is the club Vice President, Social Media Manager and sophomore in LSA hoping to major in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience (BCN) on a pre-med track. She believes strongly in giving back to the community and in the importance of tutoring. In high school, she regularly tutored Hebrew to children with special needs, and was chosen by the head of the science department at her school to be his personal lab assistant and to be a student tutor in chemistry for her peers. She planned a semi annual event where countless teens came together to tutor local seniors in technology and continued to tutor an elderly couple in technology in her free time. She also strongly values the importance of STEM and was chosen as one of five from her high school to participate in an international robotics competition where she one first place in the 3D CAD competition at the Technion University. In her free time, she loves playing basketball and soccer, painting, and spending time with family and friends.

Alyssa Anderson

Treasurer

Alyssa Anderson is the club treasurer and a sophomore in the College of Engineering majoring in biomedical and electrical engineering. She is a part of the 2020 cohort of UM Stamps Scholars and is also involved in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering (WECE). Alyssa is thrilled to have the opportunity to facilitate mentoring opportunities and spread the joy of learning. In her free time, she likes to paint, play piano, and spend time with her pets. Alyssa is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to peer mentor and spread the joy of learning. In her free time, she likes to paint, play piano, and spend time with her two cats and one dog.

Isabella Imirowicz

Secretary

Isabella is the club secretary and is a sophomore in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts interested majoring in Biochemistry. She has extensive experience mentoring students in STEM as a part of Genes in Disease and Symptoms Club on campus and as a chemistry tutor for the Science Learning Center. She also has experience serving as a peer mentor within her high school’s IB program and as a mentor and summer camp group leader for MiRcore summer camps. Isabella thoroughly enjoys mentoring, tutoring, and inspiring others. In her free time, Isabella enjoys doing calligraphy, figure skating, taking long walks, and following Formula 1 and other auto racing series.

Evelyn Faust

Website Coordinator

Evelyn is a sophomore in the College of LSA and the Residential College at Umich, looking to major in Biochemistry. She has always loved mentoring/tutoring--in high school, she worked as a private tutor and volunteered tutoring hours as a peer-to-peer mentor and president of National Honors Society. She worked at Mathnasium Learning Center before starting work at a microbiology lab in her hometown. Evelyn is also passionate about STEM--she will be conducting research through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program at Umich, she joined the MEEBS student organization, and in high school she earned state medals in Science Olympiad. In free time, Evelyn loves making digital artwork as a Youth Digital Arts Cyber School Student National Fellow, being outside, writing, and sketching.
