We are currently partnered with the Center for Success to plan monthly or bi-monthly STEM events for young kids. The goal is to get kids excited about STEM and expose them to the great variety of science topics out there. A fundamental understanding and enthusiastic outlook at a young age could be the start of the next big change to society, and anyone can play a role.

We are also working on a STEM summer camp initiative through the Detroit Children's Center. Details are still in the making, but this will likely be a week-by-week program (for a total of 5 weeks) with a mixture of in-person and remote activities, including mini-science fairs for kids to showcase what they've worked on. Supplies for science experiments will be sent to the children's homes for a more hands-on approach to remote learning.

In addition to various STEM initiatives and panels answering questions about University of Michigan STEM programs, we are continuing remote work to promote literacy in the Ann Arbor and Detroit areas. Through zoom, our volunteers read books about healthy habits to elementary school kids through a partnership with Project Healthy Community, which is based in Detroit. We hope to eventually translate this into an in-person environment and to a wider audience of under-privileged schools in the future.
